Jay Williams,
PGA Member & Host of “Golf it Up! Radio”
Jay Williams,
a 19-year PGA of America Member is the Director of Golf at
Briar Leaf Golf Club in LaPorte, Indiana. Jay has been
involved in golf since the age of five, and has worked
continuously in the golf business since the age of 15. Upon
graduating from Southwest Missouri State University (now
Missouri State) where he attended on a full golf
scholarship, Jay turned professional and explored the
possibility of playing the game for a living.
When that
didn’t pan out, Jay happily turned to the life of a club
professional, and has dedicated himself over the past 20
plus years to promoting the game of golf through teaching,
conducting tournaments and providing golfers with all of the
services that mark a quality PGA Professional.
Jay has been
featured in Golf Digest, Country Club Golfer, PGA Magazine
and various other publications for teaching, is a member of
the PGA of America’s President’s Council on Growing the Game
and is the Chairman of the Greater LaPorte (IN) Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors.
He is hosting,
along with Tod Allen, “Golf it Up! Radio,” a golf themed
variety show and is well known in community theatre circles
having acted in numerous productions as well as two
independent films. When away from the daily operations at
Briar Leaf, Jay enjoys coaching his sons’ sports teams,
reading and following the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Tod Allen, Co-Host & Producer of
“Golf it Up! Radio”
Tod is a
veteran broadcaster of over twenty years having worked
at several radio stations in the Chicago/Northwest
Indiana Market.
He is
currently the Morning Man and Production Manager at WEFM
95.9FM in Michigan City, Indiana and Co-host of “Golf it
Up Radio”
Tod has
not only worked behind a microphone but has also been
behind and in front of a camera. Tod hosted a popular
local television show “In Touch” for 5 years and is an
experienced videographer and video editor. He
freelances with an area video production company.
He is
trained in improvisation through Second City in
Chicago. This adds a contemporary and fun spontaneity
to the show.
Tod
considers himself a non-golfer but he says, “While I am
not a golf-pro by any stretch of the imagination, I do
like to be called “Tiger.” However that’s a whole other
story. I do believe, in all seriousness, my layman’s
insight into the game of golf adds an element to “Golf
It Up Radio” that makes the show interesting to novice
and non-golfers alike.”
Tod has
been married for 24 years to Mary and has a great
8-year-old son named Samuel. He also owns a cat named
Pause (correct spelling) who is very attached to both he
and Sam. (Not so much Mary, he’s a man’s cat and yes
there are such things.) Tod enjoys music, movies and
studying history in his spare time. He is looking to
another great season of Golf It Up Radio.
